Chandigarh: More than 8 Lakh beneficiaries have used free care more than Rs 912 Crore in the last two years under Sarbat Healthy Bima YOJNA (SSBY), universal health insurance schemes that are non-toxic from the Punjab government.
Dialysis has emerged as the most claimed package under the scheme, pointing to the prevalence rate of high kidney disease in the state.
In accordance with official data, 22,294 patients underwent dialysis while heart operation was carried out at 13,940 patients.
4,964 patients chose to replace the knee and hip replacement operation while cancer treatment was given to 12,133 patients who were free of charge.
Balbir Minister Singh Sidhu said SSBE managed to complete two years of implementation.
He said that SSBY was the initiative to move from a sectoral and segmented approach from providing health services to comprehensive health care services.
Providing details about the treatment services provided to patients, Sidhu said that SSBY was launched in the state to address holistic health needs at the secondary and tertiary level and more than 8 Lakh recipients received free care.
Furthermore, Sidhu said that electronic cards were issued for more than 71 beneficiaries of the lakh under this scheme in the past two years.
A total of 898 registered hospitals to provide care for entitled beneficiaries, including government hospitals and large private hospitals.
At this Empuneel Hospital, the beneficiaries entitled can take advantage of cash without cash under the scheme for inpatient in the room of around 1,579 maintenance packages.
He stressed that this year’s focus would extend the coverage of SSBY networks and services to other population groups.
The Minister of Health also said that the benefits provided for families registered in the Socio-Economic Caste Census 2011, farmers who hold J form and shooting sugar cane shootings, registered construction workers, small traders and yellow card holders or accredited journalists.
He appealed to the beneficiaries who qualified under the scheme, which had not made their cards, to check their feasibility at the nearest Empaneled Hospital, CSC Center, Service Center, or visit the website website www.sha.punjab.gov.in.
