Punjab ex-dgp, nature sena maker, died at 72

Chandigarh: Former Director General of Punjab Agreement (Prison) Mohammad Izhar Alam died of a heart attack at his home here on Tuesday morning at 72.
The 1974-batch IPS officer suspected of 2009 was transferred to a private hospital in Mohali, where the doctor said He was taken dead.
Nature survived his wife, former Shiromani Akali Dal legislator Farzana Alam, three sons, and two daughters.
Official communication shows that “his funeral will continue when his son returns from abroad”.
After his retirement, the former DGP was appointed by the Government of the Acquisition at the time as Chair of the Punjab Board of Wakf.
The party asked him to run for the Malerkotla assembly chair which was dominated by Muslims in 2012 but objected to Sikh’s groups and human rights for alleged record gradual meetings from the era of the militant forcing him to pass the ticket, which won the election.
