Chandigarh: General J J Singh, who became the first Sikh to lead the troops in 2005, joined BJP in Chandigarh on Tuesday.
He did not succeed in fighting for the 2017 State Assembly poll on a sad ticket from Patiala against captain Amarinder Singh.
Others who joined BJP including MLA Sharanjit Sharh Dunger Sharher Ajmer Singh, CRPF former IG S Sandhu of Patiala, former leader of NSUI and General Secretary of the Lehal Karan Youth Board of Mansa and SP Veteran Leader Balram Yadav.
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said the biggest problem was drug addiction.
