Chandigarh: The day after the center reduced customs for fuel, the government led by the Congress in Punjab on Sundays reduced VAT on gasoline and diesel made them cheaper with Rs 10 per liter and Rs 5 per liter in the state.
New rates will be effective from midnight.
Charanjit’s minister’s chairman Singh Channi made an announcement while overcoming the media after a cabinet meeting.
“We reduce gasoline levels of Rs 10 per liter and the diesel level of Rs 5 per liter from midnight,” Channi said.
At present, gasoline and diesel rates in Punjab are Rs 106.20 and Rs 89.83 per liter.
Shiroman Akali Dal, Bharatiya Janata and AAM AADMI Party has demanded the state government to reduce taxes on fuel to provide assistance to consumers.
