Mohali: An armed robbery during the day rocked Zirakpur here on Thursday when four men forced into the home of the regional manager Muthoot Finance and gold jewelry and cash after holding family captives.
The incident was recorded on CCTV cameras from the nearest buildings, said Senior Satinder Supervisor (SSP) Singh.
In Sharma Enclave, Lohgarh, Zirakpur, four robbers armed with the desired gun and weapons came on two motorbikes and entered Jaydev’s house guyal at around 11:50 a.m.
After looting the family, they went at 12:40 a.m.
SP (Rustic) Ravjot Kaur Grewal, Sub-Division of Zirakpur Dsp Amroz Singh, Zirakpur Sho Inspector Omkar Singh Brar immediately reached the site, where the forensic team took fingerprints.
Goyal went at the time of crime and his 60-year-old wife Naresh Rani, their 40-year-old son of Kapil Goyal and a housemaid was present.
The robbers locked family members in a room before searching the house.
They were seen carrying polybags full of jewelry when they escaped on a motorcycle.
The police said family members were scared and could not tell the events correctly.
SP Grewal said, “We made a list of stolen goods.
It seems that the robbers have taken 300 grams of jewelry with a market value around Rs 12 Lakh.
It seems like someone’s work is known and we have taken some vital evidence from that place.” The police said according to recording CCTV, four robbers won outside the house with two motorbikes and one of them entered first.
Three other gunmen followed him.
They first took the waiter hostage and then the son of the owner of the kapil by pointing to the dagger to his neck.
Then, they threatened Jaydev Naresh Rani’s wife that if he did not surrender all cash and gold, they would kill his son.
Fear, the woman handed over gold, silver and cash to them.
The robbers tied it, locked it too, looking for a house for about an hour and escaped on their motorbike.
SP Grewal said a manhunt was launched to accuse the defendant and this case was being investigated from all angles.
