Chandigarh: The Punjab government announced Friday mentioning the road connecting to the residence and school winning of the Tokyo Olympic medal after them.
While congratulating the Indian Hockey team to win a medal after 41 years, Punjab school education and the PWD Vijay Inder Singla minister said that these players have made India proud and mention the streets will be a small thank you to respect their achievements.
He added that it would inspire young people to achieve the goals they wanted in their lives.
Singla said that Chairman of the Captain Amarinder Singh had given approval to rename streets and schools and each departmental official was directed at starting the process in this matter earlier.
Of the 124-member contingents representing India at the Olympics, 20 sportsmen came from Punjab while the bronze medal winning Hockey team consisted of 11 players from Punjab, namely, Captain Manpreet Singh, Deputy captain HarmanPreet, Simranjeet Singh, Dilpreet, Mandeep Singh, Gurjant Singh, Hardik Singh, Samsher Singh, Varun Kumar and Krishhan Pathak.
