Bengaluru: Revenue Minister R Ashoka on Saturday defended the crackdown on people who did not use masks in the middle of the complaints of harassment by BBMP Marshals.
“Everyone must wear a mask.
Action needs to be done to those who do not do it.
I have been to New Delhi, where a fine to violate the rules is Rs 5,000.
Compared to that, the fine in Bengaluru is very low,” he said.
Penalty in Bengaluru is Rs 250.
A number of citizens claim that the Marshal BBMP selectively in enforcing Covid-19 safety rules.
Ashoka praises those who follow the appropriate behavior of Covid: “Nearly 90 percent of people in Bengaluru wear masks.
We need to uphold the rules in the remaining 10 percent.” He said that the necessary prevention measures were being taken back to school in the city.
“In accordance with the order of the Minister of Education, government and corporate schools in Bengaluru will be reopened since August 23.
Given that each class will have 40 to 50 students, we want to ensure that there is no spread of viruses from school,” he said.
He added educational officials to set guidelines, including steps to transport school children.
