Mangaluru: Higher Education Minister Dr.
C N Ashwath Narayan said the government was aiming for reforms that would make all higher education institutions in state autonomy in the next 15 years.
He spoke after launching the implementation of National Education Policy (NEP) – 2020 at Mangalore University on Monday.
“The main reform in the education sector, especially in the administrative perspective, provides autonomy for institutions.
At present, all educational institutions function well below the government or university.
Our aim is out of the affiliate system.
All institutions must get autonomy and thus must be allowed to grow .
In the next 15 years, each institution must be autonomous and must have the power to assess the degree.
Through this, these institutions will improve their education quality through the right roadmap that is well planned.
The autonomous institution will have their own independent board , “Minister said.
The aim of the state university, is considered a university or private institution, is to provide quality education to students, he added.
At NEP 2020, he said it was a student and centric friendly policy that would strengthen the education system and bring greater education and administrative reform in this sector.
“NEP was recruited after a broad consultation and considered more than three lakh suggestions in the past five years.
This policy aims to empower the community community to face competition at the global level.
The policy will make a rigid educational system flexible through many reforms.
