Chandigarh: In line with the track record of excessive monetary requests and is not realistic, the Corporation Municipal (MC) has prepared a budget of RS 1,725.19 Crore for the next financial year starting April 1.
The proposed amount will be discussed among members of General House and authorized in a budget meeting Special scheduled at the MC office assembly hall on Tuesday.
Even though the number might change a little, it will go to the Chandigarh administration to release the grants.
Of the total number, the Civic body has saved Rs 401.42 Crore under the capital and remaining segment, RS 1323.77 Crore, under the income category.
Interestingly, MC has projected to get RS 616.11 Crore from its own resources.
This means MC expects the impossible 1,109 crore Hospital from the administration.
The budget has been prepared in accordance with the recommendations of the 4th Delhi Finance Commission, which has never been implemented in the city.
Last year, the MC had prepared a 1,646 crore RS budget consisting of RS 448.45 Crore under the capital and RS 1198.40 Crore under the income section.
The MC has demanded RS 1,202 Crore as a Help Grant, convincing to get RS 444.61 Crore from its own resource, however, finally received RS 502 Crore as a grant-assistance from UT.
The capital section consists of money for city work projects, maintenance and development and construction of new, while the income section is intended for committed liabilities and expenditures such as salaries and wages from all MC employees, pension benefits, fuel and shopping.
Meanwhile, the RS 5,833 budget was demanded, by the UT government, he had searched around RS 550 Crore for the capital section and around Rs 5,283 Crore under the income segment.
“No matter how much budget allocated to us, our focus will be in the health segment because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic,” said an official.
