Bengaluru: South Western Railway (SWR) has begun to investigate an incident where the train that carries a ballast passes through the open level gate in Yelakeha on Sunday.
The gate crossing level remains closed during the train movement to prevent the vehicle across the track.
The source said a large tragedy was avoided in the bangarpet section around 1pm on Sunday, thanks to the Loco pilot and driver who was alert near the gate of the train intersection.
Pilot Loco continued to sound the horn and then slowed down and stopped the train through level-crossing, while some drivers near the gate warned others about the approaching train.
A video from an incident shot by a driver became a viral on social media.
Many blame Gateman and train officials for negligence.
However, SWR officials said the airport railroad was closed because there was no train movement and, therefore, a Gateman was not posted there.
“We will post a Gateman after the train movement is restored,” said an official.
“If it is not noticed, it will cause a big accident.
Given the open-crossing, the driver will be driven regardless of the train.
This can cause a collision.
Actions must begin with mistaken officials,” said a driver in the area.
Head of Public Relations Swr Aneesh Hegde said: “This is the part of the Yelahanka-Bangarpet through Kolar.
The train does not run in this section (both passengers, train goods), except the maintenance and ballast train engine.
It is a ballast train.
The incident was once checked in detail by Senior Officers.
“However, another train official said:” There are various aspects for this.
It can be a human error or technical problem.
Ideally, the train must stop before the crossing level, but move a little further and stop after Loco.
Pilot brakes Emergency applied.
Now, the train movement on this route has been reduced because of lower traffic after Covid-19, so a gateman might not be deployed there.
Only a thorough investigation that will tell.
“When it is a mutually related gate, signal It doesn’t turn green if the gate is open.
However, this particular is not interrelated.
