BENGALURU: Kamala S Karan begins his day by giving meals to stray dogs and other creatures in his area, Banaswadi, along with different areas of the town.
Ever since May, if Covid-19 instances had jumped, the 39-year-old techie, together with others, was feeding 200 to 250 creatures each day.
Kamala, a network administrator in IBM India, carries initiatives via Agency for people, an organisation that he set, and business task force teams.
He’s joined by writer Sunil Yadav along with Service for People volunteers Shyam Sundar and Kiran Kumar.
Collectively they cook 15kg of chicken and rice daily and drive around town to feed strays.
They’ve covered nearly every area in Bengaluru.
The campaigns, which cost almost Rs 1,000 every day, are supported by contributions from IBM workers and Kamala’s group.
During the lockdown, they also fed veggies to monkeys from Chikkaballapur.
“Monkeys are usually provided food by tourists or devotees nearby temples.
After everything was closed, I wished to be certain they did not go thirsty,” he explained.
The volunteers began this driveway with 150kg of carrots and smaller amounts of mangoes, guavas, watermelons and apples.
“However, I found that monkeys were interested in mangoes, thus we started taking 150kg of mangoes as well as other veggies,” he explained.
Each trip cost Rs 4,000.
Kamala’s efforts got him the name of’Covid Hero’ in his office.
He’s worked with a business task force to assist people in need of medications, beds and other aid.
He spread over 700 supermarket kits into the bad.
With the support of police officers and NGOs, he organized a vaccination push for frontline employees.
Kamala has also provided over 400 supermarket kits to orphanages and marginalised communities along with more than 1,000 home-cooked meals.
He also fed strays even throughout the very first tide of Covid.
He contracted the disease in April this year, however only prompted him to do much more.
After recovering, he declared social support.
“My kids — 11-year-old kid and four-year-old girl — are constantly around if we are packaging the meals and also insist on me,” he explained.
