The Assam government to provide financial assistance to the families of those who died of Covid-19

Guwahati: The Government of Assam will provide financial assistance once by RS 1 Lakh to the families of those who have died of Covid-19, Minister of Finance Ajanta Neog has said.
Presenting the budget for 2021-22 in the Assembly on Friday, Neog claims this is his first scheme by any government in this country.
The state government has announced the ‘Scheme of Minister Shishu Seva’ for children who lose their parents because Coronavirus and ‘Chairman of the Covid-19 Minister of Widows supported the scheme for widows.
Under the scheme for children, the number of Rs 3,500 will be given per child every month.
For those with 10 years who may not have a large family or guardian, the Government of Assam will take steps to accommodate them in child care institutions and provide adequate funds for their maintenance and education.
In another scheme, each widow meets the requirements for a grant one RS 2.5 lakh.
Modalities for applications and utilizing the benefits under the new scheme will be issued by the Ministry of Health in time, and these programs will cost Exproquer around RS 40 Crore, the Minister said.
Overall, 4,888 adult deaths, including 1,345 women, because Covid-19 has been reported in the country until July 13, Neog said.
56 minors (less than 18 years of age) have also died of viruses during the same period.
He said 95,770 Covid-19 patients were given free care along with food worth Rs 300 per day until June this year.
“The total number of ICU beds has now been upgraded to 1.540, with around 1,099 ICU beds dedicated to Covid-19 patients.
The number of beds supported by oxygen has also been carried out to 3,855,” Neog added.
