Guwahati: Lt’s Gen Rana Pratap Kalita took over as a prestigious General Officer of the East Eastern Command Commander, headquartered in Fort William in Kolkata, on Tuesday.
The Pro defense of Sumit K Sharma said that General Kalita assumed the office after giving respect for martyrs in Vijay Smarak followed by the honorary guard at Garlalion Parade Ground in Garlalion.
Before this, he was the Director General of Labor Planning and Personnel at IHQ Mod (Army) in New Delhi.
The general was assigned to 9 Kumaon in 1984 and had extensive operational experience in Sri Lanka, Jammu and Kashmir and the Northeast.
He ordered the Rashtriya Rifles battalion in Kashmir, the Mountain Brigade and the Infantry Division which was actively committed to the revolt operation in Jammu and Kashmir and a very important corps in the northeast.
Pro added, “He has rich experience based on presentation in a varied appointment to include the main promises in the Branch of the Military Secretary, the Directorate of Operational Logistics, the Ajudit General Branch in IHQ Mod (army).
He also serves as Colonel GS Division and BGS (OPS) from a corps in a very active counter-counter environment.
He is an alumnus of defense service staff, higher command, national defense colleges and serves twice at the United Nations as a military observer in Sierra Leone and Chief Operations Officer in Sudan.
