Guwahati: The BJP Assam LED cabinet on Wednesday approved the replacement of the name of the Rajiv Gandhi National Park in Darrang and Sonitpur as a national park, making this a third identity change for wildlife reserves since it was notified in 1915 as a protected habitat.
Sanctuary used to be known as a Game Reserve person until 1985, when the Congress government then changed its name to be a wildlife reserve of Rajiv Gandhi.
The local campaign leads to the name of the “person” to be restored as part of the official nomenclature of this amazing 79 SQKM Vista and the meadows at home for one-horned rhinos, Royal Bengal Tiger and Asian elephants, among other species.
“Knowing the demand for advasi and Tea Tribe people, the Cabinet has decided to rename the National Park Rajiv Gandhi as a national park,” said Minister of Pijush Hazarika on Wednesday.
Instead of the State Secretariat which is usually a cabinet meeting place, CM Himanta Buswa Sarma chose to complete the formality pass the proposal at the Coinadhora State Guest House, who served as an official residence of his suspected mentor and used cm gogoi for 15 years.
