Madikeri: The couple from Kerala was arrested at the end of Thursday because they tried to enter the Kodagu district with a false negative Covid-19 test report.
The Kodigan District district in Amamathi said they locked the couple after they found them “moving suspiciously”.
This is the first time in a state that people have been arrested because of fake Covid certificates.
The police identified the couple as Syed Mohammad, 32, Indigenous Manjeshwar in Kasaragod, and BM Ayesha Rehman, 27.
Ayesha came from Madikeri Taluk in Kodagu and the couple had traveled to visit his parents on Thursday.
They arrived at Maruti Alto privately through Jalsuru, in Sullia Taluk, Dakshina Kannada District.

The car where they arrived was confiscated.
