Chandigarh: Monsun forecasts for India has been reduced from the previous projection on April 13 ‘Normal Normal’.
In a press release issued on Monday, the Skymet weather personal weather forecast stated that there was a 60% chance of the monsoon rainfall below normal in the June-September period.
Daily and cumulative rainfall data from the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) also showed rainfall of the rainy season under normal in several northwestern states of India.
From June 1 to August 23, deficiencies (more than 20% -59% below normal) rainfall has been recorded in Punjab, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir (J & K) and Ladakh in the northwestern region.
Haryana has 18% rainfall more than normal in the same period.
Rainfall has been less or most of the shortcomings (more than -60% below normal) in 11 of the 23 Punjab regencies so far.
There are 23 districts in Punjab, 22 in Haryana and 12 on HP.
In 2020, rainfall lacked or mostly less in nine Punjab regencies, 10 Haryana and seven of Himachal Pradesh from June 1 to September 30, according to the IMD data.
Skymet stated, “There is a 60% chance below normal, predicts the monsoon to 94% of the average period (LPA) with a margin of error +/- 4% (LPA = 880.6 mm for 4 months from June to September) .
“in their latest updates, Weather Agency Private said,” Monsoon Southwestern onset on time and made a good start to the end of June above normal at 110% LPA.

Therefore, the month is completed with normal rainfall under 93% of LPA.
June and July ended with 110% and 93% LPA to skymet estimates of each of 106% and 97% respectively.

There is still no clear signal about the emergence of iod in September.”
