Vijayanagara / Haveri: The Tungabhadra authorities released 80,000 cusecs of water from the Tungabhadra Dam on Sunday night because the reservoir received the same amount of water.
The damage area of the dam has received heavy rain and the inflow has increased dramatically since Saturday.
On Sundays, the inflows are more than one lakh cusec in the morning, but it has been reduced at night.
After the water was released from the dam, the flood situation occurred along the banks of the river.
Some monuments on the Hampi World Heritage site have sunk.
Meanwhile, connectivity between Kampli and Gangavati lost after the bridge was submerged.
Many rice fields have been damaged after river water rushes to agricultural land on the banks of the river.
Meanwhile, the rain has rested in the Haveri District, Vijayanagara and Ballari on Sunday.
The hattimattor tank in Savanur Taluk has overflowed and water flows into the village.
Haveri Regency, Secretary Majon Jain visited areas affected by flooding on Sunday.
He directed officials to resolve the survey of damage caused by rain in a week and handed it to the government.
“The survey must be transparent and according to NDRF norms,” he said.
