Guwahati: The situation of flooding in Assam remained gloomy on Sunday, which affected more than 2.58 people lakh as water rising from Brahmaputra and the rural children were flooded with very wide land in 16 of the 34 state districts.
For 2.25 lakh affected in 15 districts as on Saturday.
According to the daily bulletin issued by Assam the Authority Disaster Management State (ASDMA), the district affected by the wave during a flood caused by a continuous heavy rain in the barpeta catchment area, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Golaghat, Jorhat, Jorhat, Jorhat, Kamrup, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Sivasagar, Sonitpur and Tinsukia.
There were 87,337 women and 47,377 children among affected.
There are no reports of the loss of human life.
About 61 drift houses in Bongaigon, Lakhimpur and Sivasagar.
The CEO of Asdma Gyanendra Tripathi said, “Because rainfall was unrelenting in the upper region such as Arunachal Pradesh, Brahmaputra water increased, causing widespread flooding.
But it is under control now.
There are no big violations embankments.
Only mild damage has been reported on embankments in Bongaigaon and Nagaon districts.
” Nine roads in Barpeta, Biswanath, Golaghat, Jorhat, Nagaon and Sivasagar have been washed away.
Overall 732 villages under 40 income circles have been influenced so far by flooding.
Rivers in the state that maintain increased tendencies in most affected districts and also flows above the danger in several places, Tripathi said.
The highest number of people, 1.05,257, has been affected in Lakhimpur, followed by 57,256 in Majuli and 35,539 in Dhemaji.
A total of 6,218 people have left their homes and took refuge in 24 aid camps founded by the district government from Bongaigaon, Chirang, Dhemaji and Majuli while the center has been kept ready in Beacan, Dibrugarh and Jorhat for affected people.
