Mangaluru :: Ullal City Municipality on Monday launched ‘Ullal brand’, organic fertilizer produced using wet waste collected within the city limits.
Mangaluru MLA U T Khader launches the product to the market and said the Ullal brand will be sold to farmers at Rs 10 per kg and will be available in a 10kgs package.
“Managing waste is a big problem in all cities.
Ullal City Municipality initiative is a model for the entire state of Karnataka.

Commissioner of the City Council of Rayappa said that the city produced an average of 11 tons of wet waste per day.

Tons of manure is being produced every month.
Manure can be used for agriculture and for gardening.
We have a plan to increase production so that there is no waste to be sent to the Mangaluru City Corporation dump page in Pachanady in the future, “he said.
City Council President Chithrakala K said the shily poultry waste produced in the city was being processed into animal feed by the industry in bykampady, dry waste sold to other agents for recycling, he said.
