Chandigarh: Ancient Archaeological Site, there is a mound, in the city of SIRSA Haryana, which is planted from the list of monuments protected by the Government Haryana in 2016, is actually a protected monument and archaeological site that has been included in the Tentative Indian list by the World Heritage Committee since 2015.
Means the mound continues to be a monument that is protected centrally under the AEGIS National Monument Authority and the Indian Archaeological Survey (ASI).
This site, spread in an area of about 5 km, removed from the list of monuments protected by the Government Haryana in July 2016 based on its understanding that it is a “state-protected” site.
Examination of the National Monument Authority and ASI records have revealed that there are mounds including in the list of monuments and high-ranking sites in category II.
This list includes protected monuments and archaeological sites which are part of India’s tentative list for the World Heritage Committee.
Category i sites are protected monuments and archeological sites that read on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Even in the latest list of national monument authorities that are updated until 2019, there are dune falls in category II protected monuments and archeological sites.
There are only 40 sites protected from category II in Punjab and Haryana under the Chandigarh circle, ASI, and their categorization has been carried out by the National Monument Authority.
The Haryana government has issued a notification in July 2016 ‘de-protecting’ mounds where around 3,500 houses with more than 20,000 populations were built.
