Hubballi / Mangaluru: High alert was heard on Wednesday in Dakshina Kannada and the Udupi District after terrorist intelligence input landed on Kerala Beach from Sri Lanka.
The Chairman of the Minister of Bumavaraj Bommai said the Karnataka police and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) maintained a watch close to suspicious activities in coastal districts and jungle areas adjacent in the Malnad region.
“I can’t discuss some problems, but we maintain strict vigilance,” he said, adding Nia to hold someone interesting.
Bommai said he would discuss this issue with the house minister Amit Shah when he visited Hubballi and Davanagere on Thursday.
In suspicion of sleep cells of terrorists in neighboring countries, Bommai said Karnataka police maintained strict vigilance and cooperated with Nia.
Mangaluru City Police and Dakshina Kannada and the Udupi District refused to comment on the terrorists who reportedly landed in Kerala.
Police source Dakshina Kannada said they received information that at least 13 people in three batches traveled with illegal ferries from Sri Lanka to Tamil Nadu two weeks ago.
He said they planned to travel to Kochi by road and then to Pakistan on a trawl arrest.
They may have entered coastal cities and all checkpost there is monitored.
While the source said the team is expected to return to Sri Lanka through the same route and activate sleep cells on the way, police officers will not comment on that.
After the 2019 bombing in Sri Lanka, the government there took strict steps to fight terror attacks.
