Chandigarh: The panel led by UT Advisor Dharam Pal chose three names for the director of the Punjab Engineering College (PEC).
A total of 36 candidates are in Fray for the post.
A senior UT official said on Thursday, the panel did 36 candidate interviews, which continued until late at night and three names put in a closed cover.
The names will be handed over to the Governor of Punjab-cum-UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore, who will take the final decision, he said.
With a history of around 100 years now, PEC has produced alumni who have obtained good names and fame for themselves and the institute.

Dheeraj Sanghi has resigned, citing personal reasons, in December last year.
He served until March 31, 2021.
Sanghi has joined PEC from the Institute of Indian Technology (IIT), Kanpur, in January 2019, and his tenure will expire in January 2024.

The newly formed Board of Governors includes leading alumni and industrialist PEC, Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD, Tata Power Company Limited; Amit Syngle, MD and CEO, Cat Asia Limited; And Gurpratap Singh Bopai from Skoda Auto Volkswagen India Limited, in addition to Professor Siby John and Uma Batra, and members of Kiran Malhotra and Arun Kumar Grover.
