Guwahati: East Sikkim Regency has been marked as the best player and Kipire District Nagaland as the poorest in meeting the goals of sustainable development in the first edition of Niti Aayog’s in the North Eastern Region (NER) report on the SDG index, which was released on Thursday.
Chronicles of Metropolitan Regency, which are the best performing districts in Assam, ranked 18th in the composite list.
The index measures the performance of 103 of 120 districts in eight states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura in 15 sustainable development goals.
According to the report, 64 districts are included in the category of front runners while 39 districts are in the player category in the composite score and district rank.
All districts in Sikkim and Tripura fall in the category of front runners and no districts in the candidate or outstanding category, the report said.
East Sikkim Regency was attended by Three District of Tripura – Gomati, North Tripura and Mizoram and Mizoram Serchip District between the top five districts.
Four of the five districts at the bottom of the list came from Nagaland – Mon, Tuensang, ZunheBoto and Kiphire and one, Kra Daadi, were in Arunachal Pradesh.
Sikkim Tool-Wise, east sikkim sustain the list for “No Poverty” followed by Serchhip, South Sikkim, Metropolitan Kamrup and Champhai while in the purpose of “Zero Nave”, the top five are PHEK, Bishnupur, Perens, Champhai, Imphal West and Kohima.
The purpose of “living on land”, aimed at protecting, restoring, and promoting the use of sustainable terrestrial ecosystems, sustainable forest management, fighting desertification and stopping and reversing land degradation in connection with integrating ecosystems and biodiversity into national and local planning shows things It was 12 districts from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Sikkim shared first rank.
In the purpose of “climate action”, four meghalaya – Bukit Johinia West, Bukit Garo Selatan, Bukit Garo Timur and Bukit Garo Barat are above.
In the purpose of “quality education”, two Mizoram Regency – Aizawl and Kolastic – are in two top positions.
Two other districts in the state – Champhai and Serchhip – are in fourth and fifth position.
Assam’s best performance is in the goal “industry, innovation and infrastructure” in which four districts – Metropolitan, Morigaon, Hailakandi, Jorhat, Nagaon and Nalbari occupy the top slot.
In his remarks, Niti Aayog Deputy Chairperson of Rajiv Kumar said: “The North Eastern District SDG Index is an important milestone in our SDG journey which aims to not leave anyone behind and will strengthen the localization of SDG, by placing the district, especially in our 8th.
Northeastern States, at the forefront of adoption, implementation and monitoring of SDG.
“Minister Doner, Tourism and Culture G Kiswan Reddy said this index would assist in evidence-based planning, allocation of resources, both financial and other, and supervision and monitoring of focused developments and monitoring balanced.
