Mangaluru: Traders from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi District have attracted their decision to protest weekend hours.
On Friday, traders in the coastal district have decided to open their stores on Saturday and Sunday, opposing the order of the government weekend hours.
However, DC K V Rajendra managed to convince members of the Association of Textile Dealers in the Karavali, Readymade and footwear to drop their opening plan during curfew.
President Santhosk Kamates Association Sadi DC has promised to hold a merchant meeting and representatives.
“We have decided to draw protests for now.
We will make decisions next week if the District Administration does not cancel the weekend curfew 2%.
I have asked all traders in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi to obey the DC command by closing their shops on Saturday and Sunday, “Kamath said.
He added that many traders were not in a position to pass through more weekend hours, because they had given birth to losses due to a pandemic.
“We have decided to work with the district administration this week, in the hope that the government will discuss our problems and make a favorable decision on the following weekend,” he said.
DC said that the level of peposititivity in the district is expected to reduce further in the next week.
“Many representatives in this district also support interesting weekends,” he added.
Social and Class Welfare Reverse Minister of Welfare of the City of Shrinivas Poojari and South Mangaloru City MLA D Vedayas Kamath has met with the Chairman of the Bukavaraj Minister Bommai on Friday, and demanded that weekend hours at Dakshina Kannada was withdrawn.
