Bengaluru: Two Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMS) reached a breakthrough on Thursday, finishing tunneling from Rashtriya Military School (Vellara) to Langford City Metro Station and from South Ramp (near Swagath Road Cross) to Circle Dairy Station.
TBM Varada, launched on March 12 at Vellara, completed a 594-meter drilling and appeared at Langford City Station, while TBM Rudra, was launched on April 23 in South Ramp, completing drilling 614 meters to the Dairy Circle.
“At present, TBM Rudra is drilling further between the milk circle and Lakkasanandra,” said an official BMRCL.
AFCONS Infrastructure Limited, which excites the underground metro part between Dairy Circle and Langford Town, has used three TBMS – Rudra, Vamika and Varada.
The fourth breakthrough, the milestone on Thursday marked the fourth breakthrough in the longest underground tunnel of the city (pink line 21km) which connected Nagawara and Kalena Agrahara (18 stations).
According to BMRCL officials, the elevated and underground parts will operate on March 2025.
