Ambala: Ambala Police Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) -II holds two men after recovering RS 24.40 lakh cash from their ownership near Inco Chowk on Thursday.
The police said that those taken under detention were identified as Hetpal Singh Jadeja and Chaihan Singh, both the residents of Gujarat.
The CIA-II Inspector in-Charge Subhash said their team had received a tip-off and lowered two accused of cash, which traveled with two-wheeled vehicles.
“It was told that two people traveled with a large amount of cash and therefore a checkpoint was placed near Inco Chowk at Ambala City.
Two suspects were seen and stopped to check and RS 24.40 lakh recovered from their ownership”, said Inspector Subhash.
The police said that the money confiscated included 60 records of Rs 200, 1,044 notes of Rs 500, and 953 records of RS 2,000 in Indian currencies.
“The two defendants were asked to present relevant documents related to cash but they could not provide and provide a satisfying response.
They said that the cash belonged to their boss who did some work in the financial sector.
We have submitted their charges and cash to Ambala income tax department led by Inspector Vikas “, said Inspector Subhash.
“The next proceeding will be carried out based on the report submitted by income tax officials”, Subhash said.
