Bengaluru: Underpass Kundalahalli tends to be ready in 60 days, as the last of the obstacles to resolve completion.
Underpass has been built from February 2019 and has missed several deadlines.
This is part of the ambitious BBMP signal corridor along the old airport road.
While a poultry shop, a pig stall and two-wheeled vehicle garage, which prevents widening of the road, was destroyed, working by replacing a commercial building that stands on a plot spread across 200 square meters in the corner of the road will be taken soon.
This is the last structure that secures work.
“In two days, the commercial building owner will be compensated, after that we will take demolition work.
Preced boxes are ready and installation they will bring underpass work to the end,” Lokesh, Chief Engineer, Project, BBMP, to Toi.
The owner of 24 properties, which will be obtained for the project, had previously refused to approve the compensation offered by the Civic Agency.
After a meeting with landowners on January 3, 2020, BBMP offers to pay compensation of more than 1.6 times the guide value.
When the owner remained firmly, another meeting was held on February 24.
Finally it was decided that twice the value of land guidance to obtain will be paid as compensation.
It was translated to Rs 42.5 Crore to obtain 33,654 square feet of land.
Underpass must be completed in December 2019, but the work was stopped in several months due to the issue of land acquisition.
In September 2019, the Chairman of the Minister BS Yediyurappa visited the place and ordered the work.
This deadline shifted to April 2020 and then again to October 2020.
The last missing deadline was February 2021.
