Guwahati: Dehradun police, who reached Guwahati while investigating the case of illegal human organ trade registered in 2017, on Sunday took the Mastermind, Akshay Santosh Rawat, who allegedly worked in a private hospital in Guwahati as a doctor using a false identity, on the transit remand after He was produced in a local court.
Akshay, who works here in Guwahati as Richard Abhraham Lowrence, is the most sought after in the case of trade in illegal human organs.
He has fled since 2017.
However, a private hospital on Sunday clarified that the defendant was not part of the hospital.
The defendant was first picked up by the Assam police on Thursday in connection with complaints from people missing from the Survey Beltola area, near the capital complex of the dispurs.

After his arrest, it was revealed that he was the same person he wanted by the Dehradun police in connection with the kidney racket.

The Uttarakhand police earlier announced a prize of Rs 20,000 to provide information about Akshay.
