Vax waste in minus because pienjam invited additional doses

Chandigarh: On the initial batch of covishield, some bottles have more than 10 doses of 0.5ml vaccine.
This allows health care workers in the UT and PGI health department using 11 doses of vaccine doses prescribed in the bottle.
As a result, this was added to a reduction in vaccine waste.
Dr.
SS Pandav, Nodal Officials of Vaccination in PGI said, “While archiving there is no 10cc of the dose in each bottle.
There will be some error margins that’s why there are a little extra in each bottle.” The waste vaccine in Chandigarh is in minus, which is associated with issue 11 doses of each bottle at the time.
“It depends on the batch and is not possible in all cases.
We have instructed our staff to use 0.5ml in each dose and if less than that, it must be discarded,” said Director UT Health Services Dr.
Amandeep Kang.
According to a reply after the query by RK Garg, an RTI activist based in the city, the Serum India Institute said, “It is recommended that after administration of 10 doses according to our label claims, if an additional one dose equivalent to 0.5ml is available, can be used for administration.
However, if the remaining volume is not enough for additional doses, it must be discarded.
“However, medical colleges and government hospitals, sector 32, strongly adhere to the 10cc dose in just a bottle.
“We have a waste of a 0.7% vaccine and follow the 10 dosage practices in only bottles,” said Director of Prince Dr.
Jasbinder Kaur.
Until now, 6,20,290 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in the city.
In accordance with the Ministry of Health data, 94.43% of health workers and 95.17% of frontline workers in the city have been borne under vaccination.
