Silchar: Former President of Congress Mahila and MP Sushmita Dev, who handed over the resignation from Congress on Sunday, officially joined the Trinamool Congress in Kolkata on Monday.
Sushmita came out as a big jolt for Congress in the state when the party failed to constantly gather together, losing several senior leaders to BJP before and after the recent election election.
But, unlike his colleagues, who have jumped into the Safron Party, Sushmita has chosen to go by TMC.
In a letter to the Chairman of Congress Sonia Gandhi on Sunday, Sushmita told him about his resignation.
However, he did not mention any reason behind moving to take a bond with Congress.
According to sources, Sushmita held a meeting with TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee in his office in Camac Street, Kolkata, on Monday afternoon.
Sushmita will strengthen TMC: Singhsoon after that, he joined TMC in front of him and Derek O’Brien.
TMC, through Tweet on Monday, confirmed his relationship with a party.

Sharing his reaction, Secretary General of Cachar TMC Shanti Kumar Singh told TI that the Sushmita Association with TII TMC would strengthen the party with the extent of the word.
Sushmita, who is the daughter of Parliament seven times (late) Santosh Mohan Dev and former Mla Bithika Dev, has started her political career in 2009 after she was elected as chairman of the City Council of Silchar.
He became MLA in 2011 and then a MP in 2014.
He lost to Rajdeep Roy BJP in Silchar in the Election of the Sabha 2019.
People in the Congress Party said he was one of the most active leaders and someone who always inspired party workers with a proactive attitude And dynamically and naturally resigned himself as a big blow to Congress.
In the selection of assembly that was recently concluded in May, Congress – who partnered with Badruddin Ajmal all Indian United Democratic Front (AIUDF) – was defeated by the Nda Alliance.
Since then, at least two leading Congress legislators – Rupjyoti Kurmi and Sushanta Borghain – have jumped over the ship to BJP.
