17 smart city projects for Guwahati at 887 crore immediately

Guwahati: Guwahati Smart City Limited (GSCL) will start 17 projects, including the development of the banks of the Brahmaputra River and the Integrated Traffic Management System, immediately in the city at a cost of more than RS 887 Crore.
GSCL Ghanshyam Dass Managing Director said the tender had floated for several project while the rest of the tender would soon be issued.
He said the river development project would cost more than Rs 308 Crore, the procurement of 200 non-AC electric buses will cost RS 236 Crore, the Integrated Traffic Management System will cost Rs 127 Crore and buy a Super Desilting Sucker Machine will cost RS 30 crore.
The development of Aswaklanta Temple, Temple of Umananda and Dakhinpat Satra Shanti Ashram is part of GSCL new projects.
A number of offices such as the Office of Deputy Kecyrup (Metro), the Office of the Commissioner of the Guwahati Police and the Office of the Corporate Commissioner Municipal Guwahati had to be shifted from their current location to various parts of the city to accommodate the work of the river bank makeover.
The government has identified new locations and active preliminary work.
Under the integrated traffic management system, automatic traffic signal lights and CCTV cameras to monitor traffic rules violations will be installed throughout the city.
This was announced by Urban Minister Ashok Singhal last week.
It can be mentioned here that GSCL failed to apply several important important projects in the city.
Police Assam and GSCL in 2019 initiated the ‘Surveillance City’ project to install a total of 4,000 CCTV cameras, but had dropped it.
The development of Borsola Beel is the first project on the GSCL list.
The total allotment of Rs 80 Crore was made for the development of BEEL, but the project was stored.
