Dr.
Jayaprakash Muliyil, a member of the National Technical Advisory Group on immunization in India (Ntagi) recently said that there is no need for children to be vaccinated against Covid-19 for now.
He said that the panel had told the central government about his decision not to vaccinate children urgently.
In an interview, Dr.
Muliyil stated, “India has not witnessed one death among children under 12 years of age because Covid-19.
We have registered death among children because of cancer, leukemia and other diseases where children positively tested, but they death cannot be attributed to Covid-19.

Many doctors and experts have been taken to the social platform demanding vaccination of small children.
Some claim that children have a strong immune response to novel Coronavirus, while others believe that the majority of Indian population naturally gets immune from the second covid wave, making it a variant-resistant to a certain extent.
Even in the midst of frightening Omicron, many claim that the variant is light and therefore children are safe.
So far, there have been no conclusive reports that suggest or oppose vaccination among children.
However, we try to find answers and talk to pediatricians to get a better understanding of why the doctor advises the Covid vaccine for children.
“Impact of viruses in light children”
According to Dr.
Santosh Kumar, a neonatologist consultant & pediatrician, a motherhood, Bangalore, Covid-19 vaccine does not completely stop or prevent the disease to infect someone.
Given that viruses mutate, vaccines may not protect from new variants.
After saying that, he said, “tension.
Even if the child is vaccinated to certain tensions, maybe 6 to 12 months down, they can be exposed to a new strain.
So, vaccination is not the final goal.
Instead we have to aim for the imunity of the herd.”
Furthermore, pediatric experts show that the effect of the virus in the pediatric population is very light and can be ignored.
“We have seen new strains since 2020 now, with every new strain and population of adults affected, children have begun to develop immunity to all variants both alpha, beta or delta and now omicron,” he added.
In the middle of the Omicron warning, should vaccinations in children in a hurry?
Given that children and adolescents tend to have lighter diseases compared to adults, the World Health Organization (WHO) states that unless they are part of the group on “higher risk of Covid-19”, it is “less urgent” to vaccinate They are than parents, those who have chronic health conditions and health workers.

Given the new coronavirus variant omicron, Dr.
Kumar said that so far ‘light’.
“In accordance with European data, infection from mild omicron, the number of serious cases and death in children is very low.
This shows that with exposure to children becomes immune to it.”
“We might be able to wait 6 months to 1 year until the population opens and develop immunity.”
Therefore, as far as vaccination for children was worried, he added by saying that we could wait and that “it was not immediately needed.”
Herd immunity might be enough
When asked whether children must be vaccinated when vaccines qualify for them out, Dr.
Kumar suggested referring to the bigger covid vaccine test results and then chose it.
For now, he believes that the flock of immunity from the second Covid wave protects the population and children not in immediate danger.
What parents can do to protect children
While the third covid amplifier is said to express immunity to people, experts have expressed doubts about the two efficacy of the dose vaccine against the Omicron variant.
Given these findings, doctors and medical professionals have urged people to follow the appropriate behavior of Covid.
Wearing a mask, keeping social distance, and the right hand hygiene is the best way to prevent infection.
