Mangaluru: Mangaluru City Police have arrested four people trying to sell Ambergris worth RS 2.2 Crore.
Members of the racket between countries were caught when trying to sell Ambergris in a remote place near Jappinamogaru within the Kankanady City Police Station on Saturday.
The defendant who was arrested was Jabir M A, 35, a resident of Bharamandala in Kodagu, Asir V P, 36, a resident of Padannakkad near Kanhangad in Kerala, Shareef N, 32, from Kanhangad and Shabad L K, 27, from the village of Karike Bhagamandala.
The police have confiscated five cellphones, cars and Rs 1,070 from the defendant.
The total value of the seizure is almost Rs 2.3 Crore.
City Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar said a team led by ACP South Division was jetted by Shetty managed to arrest the defendant.
It can be remembered that city police have arrested six people from Balepuni Village on Bantwal Taluk, while they tried to sell almost 3.5 kg ambergris worth RS 3.5 Crore a week ago.
