Guwahati: The Government Assam is speeding up the project to build a 35 km flyover above the expanse of the National Highway 37, which passes the famous Kaziranga National Park to prevent animal death during the flood and to promote tourism.
Flyovers are expected to provide alternative routes for vehicles and open up space for animal movements on the highway.
The Chairman of Assam Minister Himanta Buswa Sarma earlier this week to meet the Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, who has given a profitable response to the proposal, which has been prepared after consultation close to Indian animal institutions.
During the discussion about cutting on additional demands for grants in the Assembly, Sarma said the ambitious project was discussed at length with Gadkari.
“If we can build a 35-km high road on this stretch, the animal will be saved,” Sarma said.
Every year, during the rainy season, hundreds of animals perish in a banjangan park.
Brahmaputra and its tributaries, which flow to the north of the park, flood the vast Kaziranga region every year.
