Shimla: The inauguration of 1.8 km-long ropeway between two tourist cities Dharamshala and McLeodganj in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday will allow travelers to avoid traffic jams and make a 9-minute trip once 5 km.
During the peak tourist season, the road that connects Dharamshala and McLeodanj witnessed traffic congestion and travel becomes a source of harassment, but the beginning of the Ropeway will reduce travel time of around 40%.
Inaugurated “Dharamshala Skyway”, Head of Himachal Minister Jai Ram Thakur said this project was built by spending RS 207 Crore and has 10 towers and two stations.
The upper station from this Ropeway is in front of the old Dalai Temple and the removable mono cable that can be removed gondola technology has been used.
While interacting with the media of people in Dharamshala, the minister’s chairman said that the construction of the Ropeway began in 2018 and has been developed under DBFOT (design-build-finance-operating) as a public private partnership project by Dharamshala Ropeway Limited and Himachal Pradesh Tourism and the Aviation Department Civil.
Himachal Pradesh Cm Thakur said that this Ropeway would walk far in providing a boost for the development of tourism in the city and contributing to environmental conservation by reducing vehicle fuel emissions.
The released ropeway system is monitored is effective urban transportation technology proven in several Western countries.
