Scientists in China have warned about the new strain of Coronavirus, Neocov, related to Mers-Coronavirus Middle Eastern respiratory syndrome.
Neocov brings with a high death rate that has the potential to combine MERS-COV (where one in three infected people dies on average) and the high transmission rate of SARS-COV-2 Coronavirus at present, the researchers say.
“Next, our research shows that Covid-19 vaccination is currently inadequate to protect humans from the possibility of infection caused by these viruses,” said research papers published on the Biorxiv website.
Research has not reviewed peer-reviewed and has been released in pracrint.

“Consider extensive mutations in the RBD region of the SARS-COV-2 variant, especially omicron variants that are very mutated, these viruses can hold latent potential to infect humans through further adaptation through antigenic drift,”
Paper adds.
Neocov’s virus, previously associated with an outbreak in Middle Eastern countries in 2012 and 2015.
It is very similar to Covid-19 which causes Coronavirus in many ways.
Neocov was found in bat populations in South Africa and has spread exclusively among these animals.

According to the report by the Russian news agency Sputnik, experts from the vector of the Russian state research center Virology and Biotechnology issued a statement on Thursday after being issued about Neocov, in response to publications.
“Experts from the Vector Research Center are aware of the data obtained by Chinese researchers regarding Neocov Coronavirus.
At this time, this is not about the emergence of new Coronavirus who can actively spread among humans.” They added that the Chinese team has described the potential risk that requires further study.
