The essence of simplicity, purity, and sustainability of Khadi is reflected through the Khadi fashion show organized by Khadi and the Village Industry Commission (KVIC).
Mode performances, curated by the Indian Fashion Design Board (FDCI) led by Kvic Chair and Advisor Shri Sunil Setyhi, showed 60 designs by 10 starter fashion designers, which was chosen through the Khadi designer competition held by KVIC.
The top 3 designers are also given on this occasion.
Designer SWATTI Kapoor received the first prize with a cash prize from Rs 10 Lakh for his creation which described Khadi as the most ethical and sustainable clothing.
This collection was inspired by 19th-century poetry titled “Kublla Khan” by Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
He uses a refined Khadi Muslin cloth in the plains and self-examination with block printing, crochet hands and hand embroidery and other types of fabric manipulation.

Designer Dhruv Singh won the 2nd prize with RS 5 Lakh’s cash prize.
The collection was named ‘Anaarbagh’ was inspired by the painting of Krishna dancing at the full moon night with her worshipers / lovers in Kartik.
The idea is to give Khadi a little festive look by creating an ensemble that gives the nuances of couture with comfort and convenience for the body.
He used a plain Khadi cotton cloth and all the ensembles were truly embarrassed by our Karigar from Bengal and Gujarat, using 6 strings that turned pure zari hands.
Two designers, namely, Kaushal Singh and Gaurav Singh pocketed the 3rd prize of Rs 2 Lakh each.
Caushal uses Weave Plain Khadi and Blue Khadi Denim.
Print artwork is made by fine artists, translated into the screen and then printed on the fabric.
Gaurav Designer also uses Khadi cotton cloth using zero waste design techniques and contrast stitching line details.
The Khadi All-India designer competition is held to introduce new design interventions and add trendy touches to Khadi.
Kvic received 393 nominations from young fashion designers from all over the country.
The screening committee consisting of fashion designers, experts from the Institute of Design and Kvic functionaries was formed for a short list of the 10 best designers.
The top 3 designers are selected during the show by the jury.
Chairperson of Kvic, Shri Vinai Kumar Saxena said the creation of the contestants would soon be available at Khadi India outlets as designer clothing.
The idea is to attract the younger generation towards Khadi with comfortable, easy to wear and trendy clothing.
“Khadi has become an instrument of social change in the pre-independence era and has turned into a resilience, resurrection and independence in modern times.
And from being a humble clothing from great freedom fighters, Khadi has evolved into the best fashion and luxury symbols.
