Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced the birth of their baby daughter in an official statement on Sunday.
Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born Friday morning in a hospital in Santa Barbara, California.
According to the statement, “Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet.
Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.”
Following a turbulent year of stepping down from their royal duties and the recent tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey in March, where the couple spoke about the existing racism in the royal household and the matters that sparked suicidal thoughts in her, the birth of their second child is surely a blessing in disguise.
In the statement, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have said, “On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili.
She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe.”
“Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family,” the statement added.
However, the announcement was made without any pictures of the newborn.
Buckingham Palace has released an official statement stating, “The Queen, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news.”
She is the Queen’s 11th great-grandchild and is eighth in line to the throne.
Following the birth of the baby girl, greetings have started to pour in from everywhere.
In order to congratulate his son, Meghan and Archie, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall have tweeted, “Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie on the arrival of baby Lilibet Diana.
Wishing them all well at this special time.”
The Duke of Duchess and Cambridge said: “We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili.”
Prime Minister Boris Johnson has sent “many congratulations” to the royal couple.
