A study study has suggested eating vegetables and proteins before carbohydrates to control insulin levels.
The hierarchy where food plates consumed have a big role in determining post-eating glucose and insulin levels in obese people, research published in diabetes care journals.
A group of researchers from Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City have conducted research.
The research study emphasized the order of food, and argued that when vegetables and proteins were eaten before carbohydrate glucose levels were much lower at 30, 60 and 120 minutes of examination – around 29 percent, each 37 percent and 17 percent and 17 percent respectively.
Insulin is also significantly lower when proteins and vegetables are eaten first.
“Based on this finding, instead of saying ‘don’t eat it’ for their patients, the doctor might say, ‘Eat this before that,’ said the senior writer Dr.
Louis Aronne.
Dr.
Aronne, who is also the Director of the Comprehensive Heavy Control Center in Weill Cornell, said that it was difficult to ask someone to reduce carbohydrate consumption and add, “this study shows an easier way that patients can reduce blood sugar levels and their insulin.”
