But there is an interesting story behind a pair of earrings.
The Sportswoman gold earrings shaped like an Olympic ring is a gift from his mother who traded his own jewelry for them five years ago.
According to reports, Ms.
Chanu traded his golden jewelry to get this adjustable Olympic Earring Chanu before the Rio Olympics took him lucky and now that his daughter won the medal, the mother, Saikhom Ongbi Tombi Leima could not stop being emotional about his daughter’s historic achievement.
“I saw earrings on TV, I gave them to him in 2016 before the Olympics (Rio).
I have made it for the chip of gold and savings that I have so that it brings luck and success,” Leima said from him.
The house in Manipur where a large number of relatives, friends and sympathizers gathered to watch the history of Chanu’s script in Tokyo.
“I cried to see it and also when he won the medal.
His father (Saikhom Kriti Meitei) also cried.

All of his hard work caused success,” he added.
