Bengaluru: The Tamil Nadu government application questioned the order of the main bench of the National Greek Court to close the proceedings of Suo Motu by NGT Chennai in connection with the Mekedatu reservoir project would come to hear at the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
Karnataka Advocate General Prabhuling K Navadagi said while The Apex Court had posted the main petition in Mekedatu for January 24, the petition questioned registered NGT orders for Tuesday.
The southern seat in May has taken the case of Suo Motu based on media reports that the Karnataka government has begun working on building reservoirs in Mekedatu without getting environmental permits and appointing a joint committee to check allegations.
NGT’s main bench in June last year has closed the process of Suo Motu to form a spot inspection committee to find out whether Karnataka has prepared to build a reservoir.
It closed the process because the petition submitted by TN on the project was delayed in SC.
The Tamil Nadu government has moved SC with the center of NGT center.
It also filed a petition that questioned the basic proposal for the Mekedatu project, which was posted for January 24.
Judges together from Casemeans, SC Hakim Dy Chandrachud and when Bopanna resigned from listening to Karnataka Petition looking for award notice in Krishna River.
While Karnataka and Maharashtra are parties in this case, Bopanna and Chandrachud come from their respective countries and choose to retreat to avoid conflicts of interest.
