Guwahati: Candidate Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the Election of the City of Assam has been asked to sign the ‘written statement of loyalty’.
The State Committee of Assam AAP, at a press conference here on Monday, considering that major national parties allegedly tempting candidates, they have decided to replicate the model of the selection of Goa Assembly, where AAP candidates have signed a promising written statement to remain loyal to the party.
AAP will establish a candidate in all 80 city boards for elections to be held on March 6 and have received applications of more than 150 candidates from all the lower, middle and upper assam.
“We don’t want one of our elected environmental members to leave the party after elections because the party always has a big role in any victory.
So it has been decided that our candidate will sign a written statement of loyalty, which will legally tie them.
Party,” Bhaben Choudhury said, the AAP state coordinator.
The party media coordinator for Assam, Jayanta Kumar Kalita, said their main threat was from Congress and BJP, which he said could try to tempt the AAP candidate to join their net image.
“AAP will sign a legal agreement with candidates to make them committing that they will not cheat the party or voter.
If they do it, legal action will be taken against them,” Kalita said.
Candidates are filtered by the AAP observer team, who have rejected the application of several candidates who have knocked on the AAP door after failing to get tickets from other parties or have criminal records.
Aspiran tickets from Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Golaghat, Mariani, Nagaon, Sivasagar, Amguri, Rangiya, Purpose, Lakhimpur and Dhubri have queued for tickets in the AAP office.
The final list is likely to be published in the next 24 hours.
“We are sure that our 150 candidates are strange, which will be derived from the same number of environments, have clean images to help AAP forward missions about education, health and development,” added Kalita.
The 977 general election of the city ward will be held in March.
AAP has accelerated its membership drive in the state with missed call facilities and also through joining wise programs at night urban polls.
The party already has a committee in 86 of the 126 elections, which insisted that the party of the city selection contest in Assam.
Choudhury said scientific waste disposal, streets, drainage systems, parks, stadiums and street lights in a sad condition in various city boards under the BJP and AAP rules will focus on this.
“If our candidate wins, they will extinguish any efforts to bring changes in civil facilities in the city ward, which cannot be done by parliamentarians and other party MLAs,” Choudhury added.
